Guidelines

To encourage good pace of play while maintaining the integrity of the game

* Exchange scorecards with your playing partners.
* Take a maximum of 10 shots gross on any given hole (mark the number of putts as 3).
* Never go back to the tee or original position; hit a provisional if original ball may be lost or out of bounds.
* One provisional ball allowed per hole.
* If you cannot find your original ball, drop another ball at the nearest point of the infraction, or incorporate lateral hazard relief procedures, and add TWO shots to your score.
* Allow the shorter hitters to hit first off the tee (no honors please!).
* Drop your cart partner off at their ball, go to your own ball and be prepared to hit.
* Never approach your ball without a club or clubs in hand.
* Use continuous putting; avoid marking short (2-3 foot) putts.
* Putt out all balls (no gimmees).
* Wave up next group on par 3’s (if you are not there to be waved up it is a good bet that you are behind!).
* Park your carts BEHIND the green (whenever possible), regardless of where the pin is placed on the green.
* Always be walking away from those hitting up.
* Mark your scorecards on the next tee.
* Include your start time, turn time and finish time on the scorecard.
* Scorecards will not be returned once they are turned in.
* Keep your score on another card.
* Post ALL of your scores (except WGC Tournaments) with the SCGA; the WGC will adjust and post all tournament rounds. Posting all of your rounds is important to accurately reflect your index. Flight winners usually win by one shot and that shot may or may not be justified depending on the consistent posting of scores by the player. Additionally, posted scores must be adjusted according to your handicap of the course being played.  Back to Top

ICOOP

"In Considereration Of Other Players"

This option will be given to players who fall behind the pace of play.

When a group, player or players determine that there is a hole open in front of them, they are holding up play, or they are unable to fill the gap by employing reasonable catch up measures, they can, at their sole option and in consideration of other players (ICOOP), skip the next hole by proceeding to the teeing area of the subsequent hole. The skipped hole should be recorded as a NET double bogey* and the gross score adjusted for allowed "pops". This option must be initiated after the completion of one hole and before the start of the next hole. The maximum ten shot rule remains in effect once any hole is started.
